Construction Zones and Accidents Create I-70 Woes

Three seperate incidents, one involving a fatality occured along I-70 from Vigo to Putnam County Tuesday. Near milke-marker 30, a concrete hauler drove into wet cement, causing it to tip over on an SUV. Margaret Matthews was among those traveling in the SUV, she was pronounced dead at the scene. 70 year old Georgia Matthews was the driver of the SUV. She escaped injury. Another passenger had to be extricated by Washington and Cloverdale Township emergency workers. Will Matthews was flown to an Indianapolis Hospital with internal injuries. All were from Indianapolis. The driver of the truck, William Lindeman of Spencer, was taken to Putnam County Hospital for treatment of internal injuries.

An SUV ran into the back of a semi near the 17 mile marker. The driver of that vehcile was air-lifted to an indianapolis hospital.

Near the 10 mile marker in Vigo County, a rear-end collision occured between Aaron Hobbs of Charleston, Illinois and Brandy Lientz of Waveland, Indiana. Lientz had her 14 year old daughter in the car with her. They went to Regional Hospital to be treated for minor injuries and were cited for not wearing a seatbelt and several other violations. Hobbs was cited for not having a valid drivers license
