Indiana State Police are cracking down on drivers who throw cigarette butts out of car windows. The dry weather has led police to be extra aware of anything that could possibly start a fire. Throwing a lit cigarette out of a car window could be ticketed as a Class A infraction and the offender could face a fine of up to $10,000.
The focus of the crackdown is to remind drivers of the dangerous conditions of the dry weather and how flammable the dead brush and vegitation is.
