A 4-month old girl died and a 16-month old girl was hospitalized over the weekend in seperate incidents in surburban Indianapolis when both were found trapped in cars during near-record 105-degree heat.

The 4-month old was found by police at 3:30 in the afternoon. Police say she was left in a car near Greenfield for an extended period of time. She was pronounced dead at Hancock Regional Hospital. While names of those involked in the Greenfield incident have not yet been released, the faces a chanrge of neglect of a dependant resulting in death.

In Fishers, west of Indianapolis, police were called to a store parking lot after a passerby noticed a child locked in a car around 3:00pm. They broke a window to free the child. She was taken inside a nearby store and began having seizures. The temperature inside the car was 124 degrees. The child was taken to an Indianapolis Hospital.

Hermother has been charged with neglect
