They’re not in a tiff over it, but the city of Terre Haute could use the funds from its downtown tif district — or tax incremental finance district — to pay for the land for a new public safety building for its police and fire departments. They’d actually buy some of the property the city currently leases, and some nearby property to make the whole thing happen. As yet though, the mayor says nothing definite is happening…its all in the talking stages.
