If you don’t take a drug test, you won’t get unemployment benefits. And that’s not at the unemployment office. Starting today, let’s say you apply for a job, and you refuse to take the pre-employment drug test. You won’t be eligible for unemployment benefits. Department of Workforce Development wants to make sure that only those who are really unemployed get benefits. You also will not get unemployment compensation if you get called into work, and don’t go when you’re on call or are a Head Start teacher on summer break.
