TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WIBQ) - After more than 12 years of planning, the City of Terre Haute may soon have a resolution to it's waste water problem.
The latest proposal would reduce how many times the city's sewer collection tanks overflow into the Wabash River from 40 to less than seven.
A local engineering firm, Hannum, Wagle and Cline presented the proposal on Monday evening.
The project should cost the city of Terre Haute around 140 million dollars. Some of the funds would be paid by city residents receiving an increase on their sewer bills. The average bill for a resident in today comes in at 37 dollars, and in the next 25 years that average could climb to near 69 dollars per month.
Pending approval, construction will begin in 2014 and tentatively wrap in 2036.
