WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - A Wausau man was arrested yesterday after accidentally running over a child on the ice of Lake Wausau.
Sheriff's officials say 49-year-old Gene Kessel was towing a sled behind his truck with at least one child on it. A 7 year old on the sled fell off and was run over. That happened around 1 pm near the boat landing at Gulliver's Landing in Rib Mountain.
The boy was taken to the emergency room at Aspirus Wausau hospital with a bruised leg and released after treatment. Kessel was then arrested and charged with both a probation violation and causing bodily harm with a motor vehicle.
Alcohol is not a factor in the accident. The case is still under investigation.
