WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – A 23 year old Wausau woman will be in court today facing a review hearing in connection with bail jumping and possession of meth.
Kassandra Kasten was charged back in March with both retail theft and child neglect after telling police she was hallucinating from meth use while caring for her infant son. She had been out on bond on those charges when she skipped out on a pre-trial conference and then was arrested earlier this month for possession of a controlled substance.
Kasten is currently being held on a $1,500 cash bond awaiting a hearing today at 1:45 pm.
Officers were called out to the 11 hundred block of West Bridge Street March17th to respond to a report of a woman running around outside with a baby. When they arrived they found Kassandra Kasten with her 10 month old infant. She told officers at the scene she had been using meth and could not remember anything from the last few hours.
Both Kasten and her child were taken to the hospital for a health check. The baby was not injured, and is now in the custody of a family member.
Kasten’s sister Jessica was convicted in a 2007 child neglect case where her son died while she slept off an 18-hour meth high. Jessica Kasten is currently serving a 7 sentence on those charges.
