TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WIBQ) - The owner of a Vigo County business, who owes the state $58,000, is being sued by the Attorney General. Attorney General Greg Zoeller's lawsuit names Edgar Stapleton, the owner of Indiana Collision Specialists and Midtown Auto Body, for failing to pay Indiana sales tax and withholding tax for nearly six years.
The state Department of Revenue claims it issued warrants for the unpaid taxes from 2004 to 2010 and revoked his retail merchants permit last year. The judge hearing the case also issued an order prohibiting Stapleton from selling the business or transferring his assets. Another hearing is scheduled for later this month.
