MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - Scott Walker proposes a two-year state income tax freeze for companies that move to Wisconsin.

The GOP candidate for governor announced the idea Thursday. He said it would bring jobs to Wisconsin, but he did not say how much it would cost in the form of lost tax revenues.

The liberal group One Wisconsin Now said it would be a huge tax giveaway – or it would not be enough to actually encourage businesses to move.

State Democratic Party chairman Mike Tate called the plan a gimmick. And he said Walker has not had a record of creating jobs in his time as Milwaukee County’s executive.

Walker said he would also create a jobs hotline for prospective employers – and he would meet personally with any firm that would bring more than 50 jobs to Wisconsin.
