INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WIBQ) - The National Rifle Association has throw it's support behind Rep. Brad Ellsworth in his race for Indiana's U.S. Senate seat. The group urged Indiana hunters, gun owners and NRA members to vote for Ellsworth Nov. 2 saying that has defended Second Amendment rights and earned an "A'' rating.
Coats was in the Senate in 1993 when he voted for a bill to implement a handgun waiting period. Republican Dan Coats was criticized by fellow Republicans during the primary for not doing enough to support gun rights. However, he does maintain that he supports the Second Amendment.
