NEW YORK -- For the first time in his career, Derek Jeter is a free agent. There hasn’t been any indication that the Kalamazoo Kid is unhappy with the Bronx Bombers, after winning his 5th Golden Glove yesterday.
Cal Ripken Jr. says the Yankees should try to sign Jeter for life…it may be the only way they can afford him…by spreading the payments out.
Others say given Jeter’s so-so performance this year, he will likely get paid more than he is actually worth, because he is the face of the franchise, if not all of major league ball.
