TERRE HAUTE (WIBQ)-With the warmer weather, kids will be heading outside once again to play.

The Vigo County Sheriff's Department is taking this time to remind parents of the importance of getting your kids finger printed.

Kids stood in line to get their finger prints recorded by members of the sheriff's department Saturday at Ivy Tech in Vigo County. Having them on file makes it easier for law enforcement to find and identify children who are abducted.

While police hope parents will never have to use it, they say it's better to be safe than sorry.

If you missed the weekend finger printing event, the Vigo County Sheriff's office can take your kid's prints during regular business hours.

There is no charge for this service.
