A Terre Haute educator has been appointed as the middle-level representative to the board of directors of the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) Foundation. Sharon Pitts, principal of Woodrow Wilson Middle School, will begin her three-year term on July 1. Pitts began her education career in 1969 as an elementary school teacher with Vigo County Schools. She became a principal in 1986, working at three elementary schools in Terre Haute before moving in 1993 to her current position as principal of Woodrow Wilson Middle School, where she was named the Indiana Middle School Principal of the Year in 2000. She earned a B.S. and M.S. in elementary education from Indiana State University and an Ed.D. in school administration from Indiana University.
