Terre Haute (WIBQ)-City officials are poised to make a decision about a proposed sewer rate increase. Last night the second and final public hearing was held on the proposal. Officials listened to questions from the public and also able to explain the process to residents concerned that their sewer rates will double. The EPA is demanding higher standards on how sewer water is handled and treated which means improvements need to be made to the Terre Haute wastewater treatment plant and many councilors say they feel there is no choice but to boost the rates. The full council is expected to decide on the issue next week.
