KALAMAZOO -- Kalamazoo County deputies have released the name of the teenager who was critically injured when his car spun out on the ice on Sprinkle Road Wednesday evening and slid sideways into an SUV.

The larger vehicle “t-boned” 19-year-old Jarvis Knott’s vehicle right in the driver’s side, causing extensive injuries. He remains in critical condition at Borgess Hospital. This crash was not weather related but it may have been due to driver distraction.

A Texas Township man was killed instantly when he shot through a red light at 9th St. and N Ave. and wedged his car under the trailer of a semi truck, and then hit another car. The trailer sheared off the roof of the smaller vehicle.

It happened just after 5 yesterday afternoon on the border between Texas and Oshtemo Township. The name of the 35-year-old victim has not been released. The truck driver wasn’t hurt but the driver of the 2nd car suffered minor injuries.
