INDIANAPOLIS (WIBQ) - Indiana's share of 26 billion dollars contained in an education and jobs bill recently signed by the President, will go to education. Governor Mitch Daniels said Indiana's share is 207 million dollars and that it would go to improving Hoosier schools. The funds will pay for some 36 hundred eduction jobs.
Governor Daniels said over the weekend that with or without the federal dollars, the state would not go into debt. However, the state still recieved the funds, and he's pleased that the money still came to Indiana. Like other governors across the country, Daniels said he wanted to use the money for other things, but Congress earmarked the money specifically for education.
