WAUWATOSA (WRN) - A suburban Milwaukee man had part of his military pension ripped off by thieves who entered his house while posing as meter readers. It happened last week in Wauwatosa.
Police said the man was shoveling snow when 2 men knocked on the door and talked to his wife. They said they had to turn lights on throughout the house, so they could get an accurate reading from an electric meter in the basement. About 30 minutes later, police said they remembered that new meters had just been installed a few weeks before. So they called police, searched the home, and noticed that several thousand dollars were missing.
The cash was part of the man’s service pension.
