Dear Lauri,
Last night I dreamt there was a storm. Tree limbs were falling. As they fell, they turned into people in my life: relatives and friends who have died. When the last one fell to the ground, the corpses turned into flowers and the weather cleared. – Lauren 38, Morristown, NJ
Lauri: The branches turned into people from your life because each of those people have helped you to branch out, learn and grow as a person. However, dead people in our dreams can also represent issues or relationships in our life that have "died." The storm suggests you have recently gone through an emotionally stormy time in your life and I believe the branches are falling because you must have fallen into a depression. Your dream is showing you that your stormy time is over and you may even have a clearer sense of yourself and your life. Your dream is telling you it is time for you to bloom again!
Lauren replies: Oh my gosh, that makes SO much sense to me! Thank you. In July, a childhood friend, a boy, found me on Facebook. I've been in love with him half my life. And I told him this when we reconnected. Long story short, it didn't work out and about a week ago we had a terrible argument. I've been very depressed and have been having dreams like the one I described since it happened. Last night was the first time we've communicated since that argument. It didn't go well. It all makes sense and I am ready to bloom again.
FASCINATING DREAM FACT: In a study published in the Psychological Reports (2002) J. Kroth and colleagues observed that 57% of stock brokers who experience traumatic dreams end up losing their clients’ investment money. Almost half of these had been dreams of falling. Might be time to ask your stock broker what he’s been dreaming lately!
