Have you noticed gas prices inching up again? I have! I think gas here in town got down to about $2.38 a gallon. I got my hopes up that the price would continue to fall. I should have known better. Every since that time the price has climbed and it's always the day before I plan to gas up. It seems I always wait one day too long! The next time you plan to fill up you might want to check with me and do so the day before I am going to fill my tank......

Team USA's hockey team continues to truck on toward the medal round at the Vancouver Olympics. They were not a highly touted squad, but with one more win they will clinch a medal and have a chance at the gold! I think the Canadian team loss to the Americans really got their attention. They have played spectacular hockey in their last two games winning easily and one of those games was against a Russian team that was the favorite to win it all. It will be very interesting if the USA and Canada meet again for the gold medal....That's one i won't miss....

It was an amazing turn-out for fallen soldier Gregory Stultz of Brazil. He lost his life serving his country in Afghanistan. His body was returned yesterday and Corpoal Stultz was saluted at the airport and throughout his funeral procession back to Brazil. His reception was heartwarming. It makes you proud to be an American. God bless the soldier and his family......

I had a bit of a panic attack the other day. I thought I had lost my wallet! Has this ever happened to you. Man what a feeling of dread. I had lost my debit card a couple of times previously and went a little nuts, but this was much different. My whole life was in that wallet. No cash, but a driver's license, debit card, insurance cards, phone numbers, and lord knows what else....I looked everywhere....in the office....at home...in the car.....nothing.....I remembered last using the wallet at one of the Dollar Stores, so I figured I had misplaced it there and it was gone forever. Just imagining all the phone calls I would have make, all the explaining I would have to do and all the red tape I would have to face really had me down. Then I thought of one last place the wallet might be. I checked and YES, there it was....untouched....Apparently the wallet had fallen out of my pocket when I visited the restroom at work. Boy did I feel stupid....relieved but stupid. Now i check my wallet several times each day to make sure it's still there.

If you love real country music, check out our new format on WPRS 1440 on tyour AM dial. It's the music I played on the radio for years....George, Merle, Hank, Reba and the more traditonal of today's current crop of country stars. Give it a try, I think you'll like it.

Speaking of things you'll like, have you seen the forecast for the weekend? Sunshine with temperatures warming into the 40's. Next week ushers in the month of March, so hopefully spring IS just around the corner........

Well, I finally sat down and watched some of the Olympic coverage over the weekend. It was amazing watching bobled and luge competition. It has got to be pretty scary zipping down that course at those incredible speeds, but what a ru\sh that must be....I also watched Apollo Ono capture more medals. That';s quite and accomplishment, medalling in three different Olympics. I love hockey and couldn't take my eyes off the match between the USA and Canada yesterday night. The so-called experts all picked the Canadiens but the boys in red, white and blue prevailed 5-3.....Now on to the gold medal!

What did you think of the Tiger Woods news conference? He certainly took all the blamed and offered no excuses but he seemed awfully angry to me. I'm not sure how sincere his apology was. I noticed his mother did not even look at himn while he was speaking. That says a lot in itself.

My IU Hoosiers continue to struggle, They were blown out at Minnesota over the weekend. At mid-season, I thought they had turned a corner, but ti was a corner in the wrong direction. After close losses to Purdue and Minnesota, it looks like they hit the wall. Now I'm afarid they may not win another game this year. I guess I'll turn my attention to the ISU Sycamores. They look to be on the upswing. Even without two of their top players, the Sycamores continue to dig out hard fought victories. Congrats to Coach Kevin McKenna who has done a great job turning the program around.

I want to welcome local Marines back to town. A group arrived bak to Terre Haute Friday night. Thankfully the entire unit returned home intact, with no deaths or injuries. My own son spent a stint in Afghanistan, so I know the relief friends and family are feeling on their safe return. God bless them all.

And finally I had a great time this weekend doing karaoke down at Rafters, I was there both Friday and Saturday nights. While I didn't sing every song flawlessly, I rocked on a few numbers and enjoyed every minute. If you're looking for a good time on the weekends. come down and join us at Rafters on east Wabash. We'll be looking for you.....

Well, are you tired of winter yet? It looks like another dose of winter weather is heading our way. Snow is expected Friday night and Saturday with a heavier snowfall Sunday and Monday. Spring cannot come soon enough for me. Maybe we'll get lucky and the weather man will be wrong again! I wish I had a job where I could be wrong most of the time!

I still have not watched the Olympics. It just is not piquing my interest. Usually I watch the Olympics religiously, but not this year. I have just got too many other things going on. I haven't seen any of this year's American Idol either....I understand A.I. ratings are through the roof, even out-polling the Olympics....

It is going to be interesting to watch Tiger Woods speak Friday. It is his first public appearance since the big blow up around Thanksgiving. I guess he's just making a statement, not answering questions. You can bet his mesage has been carefully crafted by his handlers. Will it be sincere or is he just trying to salvage his image? We'll find out Friday.

Today I would like to step onto my soapbox to vent about one of my favorite pet peeves...PEOPLE WHO DO NOT USE THEIR TURN SIGNALS! Using a turn signal seems to be a lost art. It seems most people either don't use them at all or don't use them properly. I've seen people at a complete stop turn their signal on as they start to turn. The point of the turn signal is to let others know AHEAD of time about your intention to turn. Using MY turn signal is almost second nature...but then again I am a dinosaur.....So if you don't use your turn signal and then feel a burning sensation, it probably me glaring at you so hard I'll burn a hole in the back of your head...

The station seems to have gone to the dogs..LITERALLY...Yesterday someone brought their hound dogs into the radio station. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs and they were beautiful animals, but they were out of control! They were running up and down the halls, in and out of offices, pretty much wereever they wanted to roam. And these were BIG dogs! They were very friendly but a bit scary at first.

Today one of the morning show people brought their dog to work with them. This one was a cute little dog that they kept under control. Did I miss the memo on "Bring Your Dog to Work WeeK". I don't believe that work is the place for dogs unless they can help with the workload.....Fortunately none of those dogs unloaded anything...if you know what I mean.

Indiana is in the news everywhere right now due to Evan Bayh's announcement that we will not seek re-election to the U.S. Senate. Did you hear he has 13 Millino dollars in his campaign fund? Makes you wonder doesn't it? Is he getting ready for a shot at president...just tired of playing political games...or maybe trying to distance himself from Presidne Obama? I guess time will tell...What do you think?

The NBA All Star Game was Sunday night. It's a game I used to never miss but his year the only thing I saw was a brief part of the half-time show. Shakira looked good....from what I hear better than the game itself. I have a hard time getting into the NBA anymore. I really prefer college ball, even though my IU Hoosiers stink!

Baseball Spring training begins later this week. That and the Sports Illustrated Swinsuit edition are sure signs that spring is just around the corner. And, I don't know about you, but I am ready for spring. Blowing and drifting snow is going to be a problem today and tonight so be careful out there. The good news is that looking at the forecast, there is no mention of more snow right now with high reaching about 30 everyday for the next week.

That's it for me...what's new in your world?

Monday 2-15 Posted February 15, 2010 by Steve Hall

Can you believe we are getting more snow! That groundhog meant business when he said six more weeks of winter....global warming my left foot! Be careful out there driving.....Big news on the political front as Indiana Senator Evan Bayh announces he will NOT seek re-election....What do you think? Is he prepping for a presidential run? HMMMM....I am a happy camper today because NASCAR is back. Yesterday's Daytona 500 was interesting and exciting when they were actually racing but those two long delays for track repair really took some of the zip out of the race. Speaking of racing, have you seen Danica Patrick in the NASCAR races. She ran the ARCA race a week ago and the Nationwide race over the weekend. So far I have been impressed...much more than I thought I would.... Are you watching the Olympics....I haven't yet, but I hope to if I can oly find the time....Be safe........
